I wanted to title this post "Online Visibility: A cursed boon?" but decided against it. Too serious, and unnecessarily obtuse. And, in the hopes that this post will show up the next time someone looks for my name on Google, I had to use my name in the title. Let's see how this goes. And talk about not being aware of my online visibility...with potentially dire consequences! I guess it's going to be one of those "come what may" situations in my life. Tsk tsk tsk...
But what about all the other information that comes up on Google when I type my name into the search bar? What about my LinkedIn link, my WiZiQ link, my Sulekha.com Profile which I didn't know I had, and finally, my Deloitte listing which is for the New York office, or so it seems? How do these bits of information fall through the cracks? More importantly, how scary is it to be listed on websites without even registering on them in the first place?
I didn't realize this until Veena pointed out that one of the first posts that she happened to see on my blog was a bit, how do I say, risque. It deals with a delicate side of me, and one that is only part of the complete picture. All because I had my name plastered all over it. Rohin Kallat. There, I've written my name again. The funny thing is this post will now show up in the Google Search, an earlier picture of which I have included here and in the title, with the title of this post, this very post showing up somewhere in it. All because of my name being what people search for.
Before I go, here are several links to posts that have pictures of me. Most of them, at least. How about people looking at these first, eh? Here goes with the linking (Link 1, Link 2, Link 3, Link 4, Link 5, Link 6, Link 7, Link 8, Link 9, Link 10).
Have a nice day people.
;-)
