Once upon a dream...

So my good friend Oz had a dream about me a couple of months ago, and some of the elements of the dream reminded me of some ideas that we'd 'stormed' up in our 'heyday'. Damn man, saying it like that makes me sound 50 years old. You know what's worse than being 50 though, right? Feeling like you're 50 when you're half that age...because the last time I went anywhere near a basketball court was to get to the parking lot on the other side. But these complaints are momentary, hopefully. And no matter how much I see it happening, I continue to digress without fail.

Yeah, so Oz had this dream about me being a big business tycoon and stuff, and almost immediately I thought of this one time when we were sitting at the Cafe Coffee Day on Brigade Road (hmm...now where have I talked about this before) and, well, having just graduated/"passed out" of high school we felt like the world was there for the taking. I happened to have this book that I was trying to get people to sign/write in, and we ended up using the last couple of pages to brainstorm a product that we thought would sell abroad. Well, here's what it looked like back then...

Now I realize that making that last statement would probably lead one of you to go, "Alright, what does it look like now?" My bad. It's untouched. Check out the products, more importantly...he he he. Now for those you looking at the image and thinking, "Cheh, teenagers" or whatever, and attempting to pigeonhole these ideas as purely hormone-raging-17-year-old-got-sex-drugs-and-rock'n'roll-on-the-mind type of an attitude, think again. The premise behind this entire operation was that alcohol is a friend to many around the world. People will pay good money for good booze. But add to it the fact that the type of liqour would be a bit 'exotic' (and none of that white rum or coconut flavoured nonsense) and it seems/seemed like there was nothing more to it. And there really isn't if you consider the raw materials necessary and the cost of labor. Oh, the idea was to market local booze, like the kind they're trying to make illegal here in India, and rather than calling it Indian Moonshine we decided to fancify the local name and call it Araque. Better yet, production, we decided would happen in Mexico...I guess it was like an obvious choice for cheaper labor and for climatic conditions that were best suited for the raw materials. The market? The US and Europe. Anyway, it's always nice to go down memory lane and dig up stuff like this, because, if nothing else, it shows that we once had crazy ideas and the heart to give it all we've got. That's not to say that we don't have the heart anymore, it's just that it's a little lost, or something to that effect. Absolutely no harm in dreaming though, right Amit? He he he.

This one's for the Oz-man. The Oz-man Planneth! Sorry dude, had to say that.
