Now, I must admit that there isn't really a sidewalk in this picture, but some of the other ideas in my head were less than deserving. This is an idol of Lord Ganesha, neatly and perhaps temporarily housed in this makeshift abode. This little structure stands right outside a hotel in Madhapur, here in Hyderabad, and in general, Ganesha idols on street corners or on seemingly strategic points on the sidewalk are quite prevalent. Also, one can find several small shrines dedicated to other Hindu gods and goddesses, as well as some that are dedicated to the Virgin Mary, or the Infant Jesus.
