Here's a piece of art that I came across while at this restaurant called "Mash" in Chennai. In fact, it's right next door to "Funkjazz's"; the restaurant on Besant Nagar Beach Road in the post below this. And they have several other works, like paintings and sketches, that give the restaurant an 'artsy' ambience. The food was decent, and although we didn't have the chance, the breakfast menu looked promising.
I guess the other reason this fascinated me is that I have always admired the ability of people to translate things of interest in their world into little works of art. I mean, an autorickshaw is one of the most common forms of transportation here in India, but to see it recreated in wood has just added that much more beauty and character to this little 'mule' of the Indian transportation scene. Now, I understand that all of you may not agree with me on this, but you have to admit that it does require a certain amount of skill to take a few bits of wood and end up with anything other than more, slightly modified pieces of wood.
Keep an eye out for another exhibit from this restaurant...or maybe a couple more, I don't know.
