The Near-Endless Indian Summer

It's early March, and already the "heat is on". For those of you unfamiliar with this great hit from the '80's, that's my way of making an obscure reference to the unbearable conditions that prevail in South India at the moment. And to think that I was safely hidden away on the coast of Kerala to take in the idyllic beauty and the cool sea breeze.

No such luck. It's been a case of pure, sweltering hell. And it's only March! We're headed into the height of summer, and I'm already at my wits end. Even the locals are complaining, and when that happens you know it's not a good thing. For sure!

Even as I lay here typing this post with my all-thumbs technique, a large puddle of sweat forms urgently around me, threatening to drown me at daybreak tomorrow. Beat that, it's 10:30 pm and I'm melting into the bed. Why don't I just switch on a fan, or the air conditioner to put an end to this misery? Well, the latter's busted, and the former has a maximum speed of five and a half revolutions per minute. How do I know? What do you think I've been doing as a last source of entertainment, while I law here waiting for the slow, wet end? Oh the horror...
