Now that the rains are upon us, most of the flowering plants in the garden and around the house are in bloom. Here you have the lavender, in variour stages of bloom. This particular lavender happens to be quite a large plant; the bush stands about six feet tall and is about three to four feet wide.
The lavender blossom begins its short life in a deep shade of the color that is its name, after which it turns white and falls off of the stem. You can see an older blossom surrounded by newer ones. Oh, and this flower has a very light but intoxicating fragrance.
