Once there lived a demon named Hiranyaksha. He made severe penance and got boons that he should not be killed by the Gods. He thought that the Gods should have no power on earth. So he rolled the earth and kept it under the ocean. Then all Gods and sages approached Sri Mahavishnu and intimated their troubles given by Hiranyaksha. Sri Mahavishnu took Varsha Avathara, went to Pathaloka, killed Hiranyaksha in the fight and brought over the earth.
Then, he was praised as Bhuvarahamurthy at the will of his devotees and He has shrined Seshachals along with his consort Sri Lakshmi Devi and protected devotees.
All great sages including sage Narada were invited for this above great sacrifice. Narada asked the organisers of this great sacrifice to whom they had decided to offer the effects of this great sacrifice. Unable to give the proper answer for this question of sage Narada, the sages asked him to name deserving personage for this purpose. Then Narada told “Brahma, Vishnu and Maheshwara are all eligible for the effects of this great sacrifice. But you have to know who among these three is having ____ce and patience and purity to receive the effects of your great sacrifice.
Sage Brighu was a great penance performer courageous and capable of achieving anything. He had in his foot a third eye of which he was very proud. Only to shatter this pride of Sage Brighu, Narada chose Brighu. Then, Brighu left for Sathyaloka. This great sacrifice only rose to the history of Lord Venkateswara.
First, Brighu visited Brahma. Brahma was so much pleased by Saraswathi that he did not notice the entrance of the sage. Indignant at this insult, Brighu cursed Brahma thus “Very proud of your power of creation, you did not even notice my arrival. For this misbehaviour you should have no temple for you on earth.”
In Kailash, Siva was so absorbed in dancing with Parvathi that he did not notice Brighu’s arrival there. Parvathi Devi informed the arrival of Brighu. Parama-sivan felt angry on his arrival. Brighu had no patience and cursed him that Siva would be worshipped only as lingam on earth. Then he left Kailasam to proceed to Vaikuntam.
In Vaikunta, Sri Narayana and Sri Mahalakshmi were on their bed Adisesha. Brighu went and stood nearer to them. But they did not see him.
